Brief History
of the Players Tour Championship
A
series of events established in 2010/11. Initailly there were six UK
based events (PTC), and six European (EPTCs). Some of the EPTCs
were major existing Pro-ams like the Paul Hunter Classic re-vamped to
fit the new formula. The
events are all open to amateurs and professionalswith
ranking points awarded to professionals from the last 64 onwards
in each event. There is a separate PTC ranking list based on prize
money won in the 12 events and the leading 24 players qualify for the
Players Tour Championship Final with increased prize money and ranking
points. From the second season the distinction btween the UK based
events and those in Eoropew was dropped and they were all names
simply PCTs
